Ghana Chess Association engages Sports Fund on ways to strengthen chess development
The Ghana Chess Association has engaged the Ghana Sports Fund on ways to strengthen chess development, with a focus on addressing the needs of current players and creating opportunities for the next generation.
The Association’s delegation, led by President Christiana Ashley, paid a courtesy visit to the Fund’s Administrator, Dr David Kofi Mawuvi Wuaku, on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
The team presented medals from the 46th Chess Olympiad and discussed challenges confronting the sport, including inadequate resources for training, equipment and tournament participation.
The Association also outlined plans to introduce chess programmes in between five and ten basic and secondary schools, as part of efforts to expand participation and identify emerging talent. A scholastic chess tournament is scheduled for November 14, 2026, at the stadium.
